This antique Indian chakki/grinder table comes in various sizes. Originally used with a large timber pole in the middle with two women, one on either side to twist the pole. This in turn would separate the chaff from the wheat. Mainly found in Northern India. The Southern variety which would separate rice from it’s husk is slightly smaller and much lighter. They come with carved legs and also lots of carvings on their sides. Often painted, they also come in plain timber and now for the modern decor in white and off white.

At Paradise Living Co., we are a family-run boutique business dedicated to curating unique, handcrafted pieces that are full of character and charm. We source from artisans around the world, supporting developing countries and families.
Our handmade creations are made from natural materials, offering a rich variety of textures, grains, colours, and shapes. As such, no two pieces are ever alike.
Because timber naturally expands and contracts, over time you might experience slight splitting, cracking, or a reduction in natural oils. To preserve the longevity of your pieces, we recommend sealing raw timber products. We offer Fiddes Hard Oil Wax as an option and are happy to assist with any questions you may have.
Exposing timber and rattan to direct sunlight, moisture, or water will naturally cause them to change colour, enhancing the unique character of each piece—especially if left unsealed. In our humid climate, mould growth can occur, but sealed surfaces will be more easier to clean to maintain their beauty.
Please note that you will not be charged freight at checkout on oversized items and you will only be charged for any smaller items in your cart. Once you have completed your purchase, you will be contacted and informed of the extra shipping costs.
Alternatively you can request a freight quote from the cart and we will send you a quote including the items and shipping costs.
